Engineering Welcome Day 2022
About
Engineering Welcome Day will take place on September 21 (Wednesday of Week 0) from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Court of Sciences.
Engineering Welcome Day, hosted by the Engineering Society at UCLA, is an event welcoming all the incoming freshmen and transfer students of the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering & Applied Science.
Join us to hear from our Deans on how to make the most of your experience as a Bruin Engineer and learn from students who we are at UCLA Engineering! Participants will learn important information about Fall Quarter events and opportunities in the School and meet fellow engineering students and their MentorSEAS Peer Mentor for an exclusive Scavenger Hunt of South Campus. EWD will conclude with an Engineering Exploration Fair for the chance to learn all about our amazing engineering student organizations and their Fall Quarter activities and Engineering Ambassador Tours to help students get familiar with common engineering spots.
RSVP
To ensure that you can attend the event, RSVP here as soon as possible. We hope to see you there!
Instructions
Check-in (8:30 AM - 9:00 AM)
We have THREE check in tables in the following locations:
- 1. In front of Boelter Hall
- 2. Underpass between Math-Sciences and Boelter
- 3. Next to Franz Hall
If you find one check in line is a little longer than the others, just go on over to another check in line so that we can speed up the process.
When you check in, make sure you grab a raffle ticket and some UCLA Engineering freebies (until they run out)!
After checking in, head over to the stage area where the chairs are set up. Please do this quickly so that you don’t miss presentations in the short time we have for check-ins.
Presentations (9:00 AM - 10:30 AM)
Presentations from faculty and students from different organizations will introduce you to all that UCLA Engineering has to offer!
MentorSEAS Activity (10:30 AM - 12:00 PM)
MentorSEAS Mentors will be holding signs indicating Mentor Groups. You will receive these groups in an email from MentorSEAS. Once the speaker section concludes, please head over and await instructions from MentorSEAS mentors/coordinators/other.
Engineering Exploration Fair (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM)
Things to bring:

Engineering Ambassador Tours (12:30 PM Onward)
The Engineering Ambassadors are UCLA-hired students that take people on tours across campus. If you want a formal tour of what campus has to offer, you can sign up for slots below. Some locations you may be passing through include the Makerspaces and other major locations.
Since there are a limited number of slots available, sign ups will be first come first serve and we ask that you only sign up for one tour slot. Each slot will be ~45 minutes. Use the link below to sign up for a tour:
You can find your tour guide in a dark blue polo around the entrance to Boelter Hall behind the audience seating pictured below:

FAQ
Am I in a MentorSEAS Family?
The way to verify whether or not you are in a MentorSEAS group is- are you an incoming student? If so, you should automatically be in a MentorSEAS group. If you are, and you have not received information regarding mentor groups, please contact MentorSEAS directly through Instagram or other medium with your questions as ESUC does not have access to this information.
Will the mentor groups be walking together during the event?
We don't have an organized time for the mentor groups to get together and start walking together DURING the resource exploration fair, but if you're interested in contacting the other members of your group on your own time and coordinating a little get together, that's totally okay.
Can I join an Engineering Ambassador Tour if I didn’t sign up?
Yes, you can still join an Engineering Ambassador Tour group if you didn’t register for it given that there is still room in a tour group. As spots per tour are limited, we highly recommend signing up to ensure you can join a tour group.
