Pilipinos in Engineering and Science was founded in 1993 to address the needs of Pilipinx engineering students at UCLA, as this population was considered too few for the Pilipinx organizations that supported students part of Letters & Sciences and too many for other minority engineering groups on campus. PIES aimed to provide community and resources for students in this demographic. Today the organization expands its reach to Pilipinx students across all STEM fields and offer support across this spectrum.
